Horst Hoheisel worked 1973-1976 as a forest scientist on scientific analyses of the rain forest in Venezuela. 2006 he returned as an artist to Venezuela and developed for the Museo del Arte Contemperaneo in Caracas a work, which can be considered as a synthesis of his forest-scientific past and artistic present.
The layers, Caracas 2006
The park, in which the Museo del Arte Contemperaneo in Caracas is situated, was scientifically analyzed by Horst Hoheisel in its structure and he drowned the profile of the trees in the park with insulating tape on the window of the museum. As the visible result of the analysis he wrote three sentences onto the window:„In the lower layer the fight for the light is strongest “. „In the central layer the fight for the light decreases“. „In the upper layer the fight for the light is a victory already decided “. The visitor could look by the scientific design into the reality of the tree society in the park and beyond that on the city Caracas with their social contrasts. |
